We've talked about the three pitfalls in the past weeks: The more you drink water the better, sleep at anytime is alright as long as the hours are enough and quit eggs and take milk instead.

Now we come to the fourth pitfall: Yoghurt plus honey plus lemon - a super remedy for stuffed guts.

Constipation is one of the most common health problems. Many people try the aforementioned formula to relieve such compliant. Sure such formula works in more than 80 per cent of the people who try it. But to be honest, it also has too many pitfalls, which is actually not worth trying.

First, yoghurt which is once believed to be friendly for health, has to be re-evaluated. Yoghurt is a kind of dairy product. More and more evidences proved that milk and dairy products bring many diseases to consumers.

Milk has high cholesterol and saturated fatty acid. In the past we avoid taking lard because of lard is animal fat which has plenty of "bad oil".

So, how unreasonable we are, to quit from lard but take milk which means that we are taking such kind of bad oil. Even though somebody may take low fat milk, may not avoid its bad effect because low fat milk still has one half of the bad oil existed in the full formula. The content of oil in yoghurt is still the same as milk.

Milk has been proved to be the most common cause of allergy, mentioned in many scientific papers for decades like: Sami L Bahna in Advance of Paediatrics, 1978, P.D. Buisseret in Lancet 1978, A.B. Murrey in Lancet 1971 etc.

The last conference presented at the "World Allergy Congress 2007" held from December 2 to 6, 2007 in Bangkok, scientists from many countries like Dr David J Hill a prominent on allergic diseases from the Research Institute of Mardoch, Australia, including Dr Orapan Pochnukul, the Thamasat Medical School and Dr Pantipa Chatchatri, the Allergy unit of Chulalongkorn Medical School all mentioned the most common allergen is cow milk yoghurt, digested by yeast or bacteria, still cannot obliterate the allergen property.

On the contrary, the loose stool effect from yoghurt consuming is just the effect of allergic reaction occurs at the intestinal mucosa. It is the same effect like the watery eyes occurs from conjunctiva allergic reaction.

We can imagine how terrific auto-immune diseases may occur after such prolong effect of chronic yoghurt inducing intestinal reaction.

Milk had also been proved as a substance which may induce cancer. The epidemiologic research The Impact of Westernisation on the Nutrition of Japan held by Kagawa published in Prevention 1978 compared the food consumed by Japanese during 1950 to 1975, revealed that 25 years after World War Two Japanese took milk 15 times and meat 7.5 times than the previous days. Such change in diet leads Japanese women to suffer from breast cancer, lung cancer and colon cancer 300 per cent of the previous year.

The World Cancer Research Fund in Association with American Institute for Cancer Research, mentioned that "Milk is the probable factor for breast cancer, ovarian cancer and prostatic cancer."

These three major downsides of milk indicate that taking yoghurt, which is derived from milk is not worth enough for us to take risk.

Now come to honey. Even though honey is a natural sweetener, but it does not indicate that it is save. The sucrose in honey will be digested into glucose and being absorbed into the blood stream like many other sugars. One should know that over supply of glucose, the excess sugar in blood stream will be turned into aldehyde, which is a chemical substance like formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde or formalin is a substance for preserving corps, because of its dehydrating effect can dry up any animal tissue.

In ancient times, Chinese warriors used honey to preserve the head of a defeated warrior and sent it to his emperor as evidence of victory.

So too much intake honey may harden our blood vessel, like those of diabetic patients, who suffer from the harden artery or degenerated eye grounds, in case of uncontrolled DM.

Actually, Chinese traditional medicine and Thai traditional medicine suggest that more than one teaspoonful of honey per day should not be consumed. And usually, they prefer to use honey to mix up with herbal remedies instead of consuming it in its pure form.

Hence, by the analysis of such a formula, a mixture of yoghurt, honey and lemon may induce loose stools. But it occurs because of the allergic reaction from yoghurt mixed with the waxy effect of honey. But the consumer may take too much health risks from yoghurt and honey, far more compatible than the good result.

The natural way to heal constipation is simply eating brown rice and vegetables.

The dragon fruit is also recommended. It has plenty of fructo-oligo-saccharide, which will be a good nutrient for bacteria in the blood stream.

One big dragon fruit at sunset, get one big smile at sun-rise!
